Articling at Srebrolow Lebowitz Spadafora
Why SLS?
SLS is one of the leading plaintiff personal injury law firms in Ontario. Our articling program prepares students to become first-class advocates and future associates with our firm. Our firm focuses on civil litigation only.
What will you learn?
At SLS, our students learn by doing. You will assist our lawyers in preparing for mediations, arbitrations, hearings, discovery and trial. You will accompany our lawyers to as many proceedings as possible. You may attend designated hearings and Small Claims court trials on your own.
You will attend regularly in motions court before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. You will be exposed to every aspect of litigation, including meeting and dealing with clients and other lawyers, drafting materials and attending in Court.
You will also learn how to run a law practice so that you are prepared to handle your own substantial file load should you return as an associate to SLS.
Reward
SLS provides an excellent compensation package, including a full benefits package and ten paid vacation days during the articling term. SLS does not typically pay for the Bar Admission process.
Who is SLS looking for?
SLS looks for confident, well-spoken students who show potential to become superior litigators and advocates. Our students must be able to thrive under pressure and have excellent analytical and communication skills. We want students who are critical thinkers, know the law and can think on their feet. Academic record is an important, although not determining factor in the hiring process.
How to Apply
SLS abides by the articling recruitment procedure prescribed by the Law Society of Upper Canada. A complete application includes a cover letter describing yourself, and your career goals, resume, law school and university transcripts. References and/or reference letters are always helpful.
